Westshop is a full service landscape architecture firm that specializes in residential and small scale commercial projects.  Based on the the principle that the design of outdoor spaces must be considered both artistically and technically and within the context of the environment, the architecture and the cultural setting.

Westshop offers a straightforward approach to unique and custom landscape design, with a focus on site character, unique details and a respect for the environment.  Each project begins with listening, observing and exploring the intersections of nature and culture.

Founded in 2013 Westshop was created to focus on these relationships as well as those between fellow designers, craftspeople and most importantly the clients.  The goal at Westshop is that each garden embodies originality, craftsmanship and the love of design and experience.

Alisa West was born and raised under the big sky where the high plains of central Montana and the Beartooth mountains collide.  An explorer at heart and an adventurer by nature, she has always been somewhere in the middle of practicality and possibility.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Mason University with a concentration in Medieval and Renaissance Literature, Alisa returned to The University of Texas at Austin to receive her Masters of Landscape Architecture.  Her work there was recognized with the Fall 2011 Design Excellence Award for Advanced Studio and inclusion in the 2012 Architecture Center Houston and Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Biennale. Alisa's academic research focused on the intersection of Nature + Culture and included travel to Mexico City to study the intersection of Architecture and Landscape Architecture through the work of Luis Barragan. In 2012 she was the recipient of the American Society of Landscape Architects Certificate of Honor.

Alisa has worked in the design office of Chong Partners Architects in San Francisco, where she worked in collaboration with the office of Renzo Piano Building Workshop on the award winning California Academy of Sciences as well as locally in the office of SpechtHarpman.  She currently serves a guest critic at The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture and as a member of the AIA Austin Homes Committee.

Before starting Westshop she worked as a designer at Mark Word Design and .dwg in Austin, Texas.  Alisa is a licensed landscape architect in the state of Texas.
